About the Yorkshire Matchplay Golf Championship

The Yorkshire Matchplay Golf Championship is an exciting new knockout matchplay golf competition for amateur golfers in Yorkshire. 2010 is the inaugural year of the event with hundreds of golfers expected to enter.

There is an Individual and Pairs championship which are initially contested on a local basis with the winners of each region progressing to the Grand Final at one of Yorkshire's finest golf courses - The Alwoodley Golf Club.

Why enter?

Entering either (or both) of the matchplay championships is a fantastic way to play competitive golf at different courses throughout Yorkshire. You are guaranteed at least one round at a different course because the first round is played over 36 holes on a home and away basis.

You then have the chance to progress through a series of rounds to the Regional Final with the winners invited to contest the Grand Final at The Alwoodley Golf Club.

There is over £1,000 worth of prizes up for grabs and entry is great value at just £15 for the Individual competition and £25 for the Pairs event.

Who Runs the Championship?

The Yorkshire Matchplay Golf Championship is organised and administered by Golf Empire, the leading company for promoting amateur golf tournaments in the UK.
