Format:
What's the format of the championship?
There are two separate competitions (Individual and Pairs) both of which are played on a matchplay knockout basis. Early rounds in each championship are played on a regional basis with the winners of each section qualifying for the Grand Final in September.
What's the handicap allowance?
Strokes should be taken against the gents Stroke Index as displayed on the host golf club's scorecard.
In the Individual competition the golfer with the highest handicap receives the full difference of strokes between both golfers.
In the Pairs competition each player receives 3/4 of the difference between their handicap and that of the lowest handicapped player in the group.
What happens once I've entered?
There are four sections for each competition (North, East, South & West) and entrants will be allocated into one of these regions based on their location in order to minimise traveling distances. To see which area your golf club falls click here.
First Round:
The first round (and any necessary preliminary rounds) in each section will be played on a home and away basis over 36-holes, therefore, golfers are guaranteed at least one round away from their home course. The draw will state who has home advantage in the first leg. If sudden-death is required this will take place at the venue of the second leg immediately after the completion of the 36th hole.
Subsequent Rounds:
The following regional rounds will be played over 18 holes with a draw being made for home advantage. Golfers in each region will do battle until just two remain in each section to contest the Regional Final.
Regional Finals:
The four Regional Finals, in both the Individual and Pairs championships, will be played on a home and away basis over 36 holes. The winners of each Regional Final will progress to the Grand Final.
The Grand Final
The regional winners will take their place in the Grand Final at The Alwoodley Golf Club on Thursday 16th September 2010 for a fantastic day of golf and food. Read full details about the Grand Final.
