Arranging Matches:
When do I find out who I play?
Players in each tie will receive notification of the draw by email from the Tournament Organiser. This will include details about opponents including contact details, the venue for the match and when it must be played by. The draw will also be published on the Yorkshire Matchplay website.
Who's responsible for arranging the match?
All players are responsible for arranging and completing their match before the deadline date, otherwise both sides will be disqualified. We strongly advise that matches are arranged and played ASAP in case bad weather forces the postponement.
Home players are responsible for ensuring that their course is available for play on the agreed date and time. Deadlines will not be extended for any reason.
Do I have to pay a green-fee?
In many cases the home club will offer courtesy of their course to visiting players. If for any reason they do not grant this then green-fees must be paid and shared equally between the players, usually at the member’s guest rate.
What if I struggle to arrange my game?
The Tournament Organiser will disqualify any players who fail to complete their match by the deadline date. Extensions will not be granted for any reason. Players should consult the Tournament Organsier ASAP if they have any problems arranging their match.
Do I need to bring my handicap certificate?
Yes. Handicap certificates should be shown to opponents before each match. If these are not available the game should still go ahead but opponents may request that proof of handicap be supplied to the Tournament Organiser within 72 hours of the match having been completed.
Can the venue be changed?
After the draw has been made for home advantage the venue of the match cannot be changed unless both sides mutually agree to do so.
Which tees do we use?
The competition tees (normally white) should be used unless this is not permitted by the host golf club in which case the daily tees (normally yellow) should be used.
