Rules Summary

1. The Yorkshire Matchplay Golf Championship will be played in accordance with the rules of golf as laid down by the R&A.
2. The competitions will be a matchplay knockout format.
3. Distance measuring devices (not slope) are allowed for competitors use.
4. Entries close at midnight on 31st March 2010. Once accepted entries cannot be refunded.
5. Entry is open to gentlemen golfers, aged 16 or over on January 1st 2010, who are a member of a club affiliated to the Yorkshire Union of Golf Clubs with an 'active' CONGU handicap.
6. The maximum handicap to enter is 28 but those with a handicap of 19-28 must play off 18. Full handicap difference will apply for the Individual competition and 3/4 difference for the Pairs event.
7. Current handicap certificates should be taken to each match and shown to the opponents before the match starts.
8. The entry fee is £15 per person for the Individual Championship and £25 per pair for the Pairs Championship.
9. Players will be notified of the draw and their opponents in each round by e-mail. The draw and results will also be published on the Yorkshire Matchplay website.
10. No changes can be made to the names of the entrants after the closing date.
11. All players are responsible for contacting opponents to arrange a mutually agreeable date before the closing date. The home player(s) is responsible for ensuring play is possible at their course on the agreed date and time.
12. Course courtesy is usually given to the away player(s) however should the host club not grant this players should equally share any green-fees payable (ie: at members guest rate).
13. The winner in each round must notify the organiser by email (info@yorkshirematchplay.com) before the closing date. Failure to do so will result in disqualification. Failure to play a match by the stated date will also result in the disqualification of both players/pairs.
14. A draw will be made for home advantage in subsequent rounds.
15. By entering the event you give permission for your name and contact details to be made available to other competitors.
16. Regional rounds will be played between 1st May 2010 and 15th August 2010. Regional Finals must be played before 10th September 2010 and will be played on a two-legged basis over 36 holes (home and away).
17. The Grand Final will be held on Thursday 16th September 2010 at The Alwoodley Golf Club.
18. In the event that play is not possible on the day of the Grand Final, the Tournament Organiser has the right to settle the competition in any way deemed fit.

20. All decisions concerning the the Yorkshire Matchplay Golf Championship rests with the Tournament Organiser and his decision in all matters is final.
21. The Yorkshire Matchplay Golf Championship reserve the right to change the Grand Final venue and closing date of any rounds at any time without prior notice.
