2011/12 Winter Pairs

The Yorkshire Matchplay Winter Pairs is a knockout competition for amateur golfers played throughout the off-season (October to March).

It allows players to keep their game in shape by retaining an element of competitive golf during the winter period whilst also having the chance to play new courses.

Eligibility:

Entries have now closed for the 2011-12 competition - please email info@yorkshirematchplay.com to receive details about the 2012-13 tournament.
Open to pairs of male golfers aged 16 or over on 21st October 2011
Must have an active CONGU handicap (max 28) at a golf club affiliated to the Yorkshire Union of Golf Clubs
Pairs do not need to be from the same club but must nominate a 'home' course
Partners cannot be changed after the closing date
Entry-fee £15 per pair

Format for Rounds 1 to 4:

18-hole 4-Ball Betterball matchplay knockout
Early rounds contested on a regional basis to minimise traveling
Draw made for home advantage in each round
3/4 handicap difference (golfers with a handicap of 19-28 must reduce to 18 before any calculation)
Many courses offer courtesy but if not the members guest fee rate should be split equally amongst all players

Deadlines:

Round 1 = 30th November 2011
Round 2 = 8th January 2011
Round 3 = 19th February 2012
Round 4 = 18th March 2012

Finals Day:

The last EIGHT pairs qualify for finals day at Huddersfield Golf Club on Friday 30th March 2012
Coffee & bacon roll on arrival
18-hole Betterball Stableford competition (3/4 handicap allowance)
Tee-times 11am to 11.30pm
3-course meal

Prizes:

Paid in Marks & Spencer's vouchers
1st = £300 per pair
2nd = £100 per pair
3rd = £50 per pair
